More than just hotel. There is shopping, restaurants, and lots of art. The entire hotel is spotless and everything looks very high quality. Our luxury suite was beautiful and had awesome views of the river and city. Very well furnished and the bed was awesome. Really enjoyed our stay.
Great rooms, nice place but to fee for extras that is on top of a high rate already. Sure they are in a beautiful spot. But when they charge 28.00 to park every night on top of room, and just to use a microwave that even cheap motels provides for 40.00 night rate. They want 25.00 a day on top of your room. That is absurd. For over 200.00 a night already. Even with multiple restaurants in the building they don't even have one to assist. I would recommend staying else where that gives a common amenity of a microwave and not charge extra. Stay more than 2 nights and pay for the microwave you could of bought a cheap one and kept it. As for parking don't use there's. Can park in one of the other 3 near the hotel. With in a 3 block radius. The Michigan government ramp is 12.00 a day. And Ellis and others near by are at 15.00 a day. Their own ramp is not attached either. Use the Michigan public ramps at half or less.
Great dinning experiences. Been to most restaurants in there. Have stayed overnight several times. Older side of hotel tends to have thin walls, but nice atmosphere. The tower side is more modern with great views. Fitness center and pool are great with steam and sauna rooms. Tennis courts and handball courts are available. Can allow schedule spa treatments, but we haven't tried yet.
I only gave four stars because I have never actually stayed the night but I do wonder through this hotel weekly and the staff is so super nice. My favorite landmark in Grand Rapids and it is so clean and beautiful inside. I feel like I am in a different place when I step inside. It's my happy place. I am sure I will raise the rating when I check off my bucket list and book a stay
This wasn't the first time I stayed at the Amway, and it won't be my last. Upon first arriving there the valets were fast, friendly and efficient. The line for the check in was 15 people deep, and I only had to wait about 5 minutes. Everyone there was still fast, and friendly. The front desk clerk bumped me up to a better room, with a fantastic view, for no additional charge. The room itself was meant for a king, and my wife and I throughly enjoyed all the amenities the room had to offer. The bathroom was spotless, and the bed was crisp. With two closets and two flat screens, what more could we ask for. But in the morning, the shower was the topping on the cake. The built in rain head in the ceiling and the powerful regular shower head, but with enough depth for the bath faucet. At the time of check out, everyone was still their best. It was an overall excellent experience and with the added bonus of it being art week, the hotel had plenty of fine local art on display and for sale.
