After walking the streets of Grand Rapids for hours we finally found a place we could enjoy. Good beer, great food, friendly service and home town atmosphere. Funny thing was it was right back next to our hotel.
I stop here whenever I'm in town, but after today, I wish I would've ate at a hot dog stand. Barely anyone there and the server was rude and kept rushing me. I don't drink alcohol, and ordered an iced tea, as soon as I said that i get a look of shittiness from the waitress. The food (black & blue burger) was tasteless, and had more grease than blue cheese. Wanted chips, but apparently since I didn't order booze the waitress took it upon herself to give me fries... which upped my order an extra dollar. I enjoy tipping my bill. It's fun, and I enjoy the smiles I get from the surprise. Today I gave a dollar and some change. I may not look like/or eat like a wealthy person, but I enjoy tipping like it's a 5 star restaurant. Your loss miss rushing waitress. Due to this experience, you've lost my business. Hopefully others don't have this experience here. Also, a note to the waitress: don't pick your skin at the bar, it's very gross, people usually don't like added flavor.
Go during happy hour and you can score some really good deals on some appetizers. Their wings are really crispy and full of flavor! The bar itself is a little run down but with great company you should have a fun time. Plus they have Karaoke starting at 10pm!
Z's is my favorite place for food and drinks downtown, any day or night of the week. Great atmosphere, and always has specials going on. The staff is always friendly and helpful. You won't be disappointed at Z's. Try the buffalo rolls and chili!
We love Z's! Great food, good drinks and the atmosphere is much more relaxed than other places in downtown. It's a good place to start or end your night out! I'd highly recommend the homemade tots.
