The train ride is fine and the service is as expected from Amtrak. The only thing that would make it better is to add more trains to the schedule. As of now there is one train a day to Chicago that leaves at 6am and one train from Chicago that leave at 6:30pm Chicago time.

We booked out train tickets to Chicago from Grand Rapids 3 months before our trip I recommend doing so as soon as you think you decide you're taking the train! - Saved some $ this way. Train ride was smooth and on time. It was 40 degrees when we arrived at the station and it was nice we could lounge without out jackets. Cafe below the deck - recling seats - foot rests and curtains. Pleanty of space to kick back and take a nap. I would recommend ear plugs or head phones just because this is still a train. No wait for bathrooms, each cart has 5! Now, if only the aircrafts could get on this level of space. Great experience overall and saves us from having to pay to park in Chicago.
Took the train from Lincoln NE to Grand Rapids MI and it was quite the trip! Obviously taking the train is going to be a longer trip, but time wasn't a factor. It was fantastic to see the changing landscape, walk around the cars and talk to strangers, or grab a drink from the food car. If you're in a hurry a train is not the way to go. If you want to enjoy a nice, scenic trip then taking the train is the way to go.
Not to happy with Amtrak honestly. First ride I took my attendant was very rude. When I asked for blankets he reached over me and threw them on my lap. I do expect a little respect and quality since I paid for a sleeper car and had my 3 month old. Again rode with my fiance and my son who was 6 months and Chicago staff was rude. Attendant was much better thank God. I wish I knew the gentleman's name but he was amazing! My only problem is my bf left his phone in the train in our sleeper car. 2 months later Amtrak calls me stating they found my debit card ( honestly didn't know it was missing) but no phone. I truly believe someone stole it and all I got was attitude from some lady on the phone in tomah.. thinking if I'm going to be treated so bad I'm just going to drive from now on..
